Nyepi Day, also known as the Balinese Day of Silence, falls on 19 March, when almost the entire island of Bali comes to shut down. Airports close, streets fall silent, and daily activities stop, allowing the Earth to take a break from the bustle of human life and inviting a moment of reflection and renewal. Experiencing Nyepi Day in Sidemen offers an even deeper sense of stillness.   1. What is Nyepi Day ?

    Nyepi Day, also known as the Balinese Day of Silence, marks the Balinese New Year and falls on 19 March 2026. On this sacred day, the entire island of Bali comes to a complete pause in accordance with local regulations and cultural traditions. Our resort in Sidemen fully observes Nyepi Day from 6.00 AM to 6.00 AM the following day. During this period, there are no flights, no vehicles on the roads, no outdoor activities, and no external lighting. Guests are required to remain within the resort area, allowing them to experience the deep stillness and tranquility that make Nyepi in Sidemen truly unique.

  2. Are guests allowed to leave the resort during Nyepi Day?
    No. Guests are required to remain within the resort premises throughout Nyepi Day. Leaving or entering the property, including check-ins and check-outs, is not permitted.

  3. Is the resort provide activities during Nyepi Day ?
    Wapa di Ume Sidemen offers a selection of mindful activities during Nyepi Day, thoughtfully designed to enhance the spirit of silence and reflection. Guests may take part in morning yoga and night meditation, enjoy lunch and dinner within the resort, and join the Eco Memories Program along with a curated cultural experience—a meaningful way to connect with local traditions while embracing calm, balance, and presence.

  4. Will resort services still operate during Nyepi Day?
    Essential hotel services will continue with limited operations. Dining services will be available within the property, and room service may operate with adjustments. Recreational facilities may also operate on a limited basis
  5. Is internet access available during Nyepi Day?
    Internet access and in-room entertainment may remain available; however, guests are encouraged to use them discreetly and respectfully in keeping with the spirit of Nyepi.

  6. What happens in case of an emergency?
    Emergency services will remain on standby. Guests may contact the Front Office team at any time (24 hours) should urgent assistance be required.
